NTEU New Year’s Message and Membership Meeting Notice for January 25, 2023

Dear Bargaining Unit Members,

Happy New Year!

Your Chapter 337 leadership hopes that everyone had a happy, safe, and joyful holiday season.

As we turn the calendar page to a new year, we want you to know that we are still negotiating and working hard to come to a resolution on expanded telework and a new compensation agreement.

We have re-engaged with the agency in negotiation talks and follow up questions regarding both issues. Due to the sensitive nature of the negotiations, we do not have much information to provide, but please know that we are asking the hard questions.

Regarding telework and re-occupy the office, we are continuing to fight for full time, expanded telework, which will allow you to design a telework schedule that works best for you and your family. We stand by our Chapter President’s previous comments that he does not expect us to move on from our current, Phase 2 full time telework pandemic posture before March 1, 2023. At this time, we think that will probably be delayed further.

Regarding compensation, prior to the holiday season we were waiting on budgets to be finalized. We read through all of your comments and survey results, and we think you will be pleased with the agency’s current compensation proposal because it includes things like agency payment of professional fees, increases in agency contributions to retirement, and an increase to our current 2% pay adjustment to help fight inflation. It also considers future possible inflation and ensures that we don’t have to fight for additional increases that federal employees on the GS scale automatically receive.

On January 25, we are hosting a Membership Meeting from noon to 2:00 p.m. Eastern. This meeting will be in a town hall format. Please be on the watch for the meeting invite and agenda.

To the extent you can, please submit questions that you may have ahead of time, though we will also take questions live during Q&A. Our Chapter President will stay online until all of your questions are answered.

Until then, please reach out to any of the Chapter 337 leadership and stewards with your questions and concerns.

“Any new beginning is forged from the shards of the past,

not from the abandonment of the past.”
